Get To Know Dr. Nido R. Qubein, President, High Point University
Dr. Qubein comes from a diverse business background, having been involved with a range of organizations over his 35 years as a professional. From banking to retail to women’s clothing, Dr. Qubein offers a wealth of experience and insight.
“If you understand the principles that lead to success in any business and apply them with vigor, chances are, you’re going to succeed,” says Dr. Qubein.
Dr. Qubein took the position of president at High Point University in 2005. Since then, he has overseen the development and transformation of the institution to present new opportunities for those enrolled there.
“We’re an unconventional university on the one hand and a conventional one on the other,” says Dr. Qubein.
Under Dr. Qubein’s leadership, HPU has developed programming that offers a focus on experiential education and values-based learning. He also teaches the freshman course, “The President’s Seminar on Life Skills”, which offers advice on winning habits, skills, and values that all HPU graduates should possess. A thoroughly engaging leader and personality, Dr. Qubein is passionate about his achievements, as well as fostering them for those he works with and teaches.
“The circumstances in which we find ourselves never determine where we end up,” says Dr. Qubein. “They only define where we start.”
